Land at Copenhagen Drive,
Abingdon.
About

Henry Davidson Developments have proposals for a mixed-use development for land at Copenhagen Drive, Abingdon.
We are seeking views on our proposals at an early stage to enable comments from members of the public to be taken on board and help us shape the proposals for the site.
Nationally we are facing a growing housing shortage, not enough homes are being built to meet the demand and the demand for housing within the Vale of White Horse is high. The development of this site will deliver a mix of both market and affordable dwellings to meet the Council’s on-going housing requirements, in a mix of type, tenure and style.
Please feel free to review the proposals and use the contact form at the bottom of the page if you wish to make comments or suggestions regarding the development.
The Site

The site is located to the north-west of Abingdon, off Copenhagen Drive, and is bounded to the west by the A34, providing links to the wider area. The site is approximately 2.27Ha and is allocated within the Vale of White Horse Local Plan to deliver new homes together with the Barratt Development to the east.

Development Proposals

The development proposals for the site include the following:
-
31 new homes including 11 affordable dwellings;
-
A mix of family homes and apartments;
-
Day nursery facility with outside play space;
-
75 bedroom state of the art care home;
-
Landscaped public open space and play space; and
-
New vehicular and pedestrian access from Copenhagen Drive and pedestrian access to Aldi and Wootton Road.

Due to an ageing population nationally, the demand for new care facilities is at an all-time high, locally there is a shortage of care facilities and this provision will assist in meeting the on-going demand.
Research shows limited nursery provision in the locality of the site. The proposed day nursery will provide new spaces responding to the local demands of existing and new residential development.
A site-wide masterplan is shown below.
